Mikkelson's Market
A tiny kitchen in the corner, everything solid
📍 Reynoldstown · Eastside Trail

We rolled off the Beltline in Reynoldstown and found Mikkelson's Market tucked on Flat Shoals. Whitewashed brick, weathered wooden sign, rust-red door.
Emily Chan opened it in 2024, naming it after her father, Eric Mikkelson, who spent his life in the restaurant business. The market nods to her family's Danish heritage, but it doesn't feel like a heritage project. It feels like someone who knows what good food looks like and just started stocking it.
The store is a grab-bag: Swedish candy, Asian chips, beer, wine, tinned fish, greeting cards, boiled peanuts. A deli case runs the length of one wall, prepared salads and cheeses and cartons of local milk. Up front there's a whole counter of loose candy in glass jars next to stroopwafels and imported chocolate bars, and a shelf of the kind of gift-shop novelty you don't need but pick up anyway, like a Loch Ness monster tea infuser.

Mikkelson's Chanwiches, a tiny kitchen in the corner, is why you're there. The deli menu is tight and honest-priced. I got a bacon egg and cheese biscuit on a Saturday morning: flaky biscuit, melted cheddar, good egg, crispy bacon. Someone cared about the biscuit itself. It was the cashier's first day, and she handled the line without missing a beat.

No seating inside, just a few picnic tables on the patio out front, a mismatched set in dappled shade. You stop, you grab something, you sit outside, you eat.
